  • chinese ministries

God’s vision for his church is that it be made up of people from all different walks of life, all different cultures, and all different languages.  Responding to the growing Chinese population in our community, Shepherd of the Hills with the help of the Pacific Southwest District launched a ministry to our Chinese community in 2015.  We are excited about this opportunity to continue to share the love of God with everyone in our community.

Our Chinese Ministry worships every Sunday at 11:45 with Bible Study and a meal following worship.

  • missions ministries

Throughout the years Shepherd of the Hills has been very active in missions both globally and locally.  We have helped plant more than 60 churches in India through Mission India.  We have worked to build houses in Mexico.  We have supported Lutheran missionaries in Africa, Hong Kong, and are currently sponsoring a missionary family in Vietnam.  We work to support missions through partnering with and supporting organizations like Lutheran Hour Ministries and Lutheran World Relief.  Each year, we also partner with Samaritan’s Purse in a project called Operation Christmas Child. With this, we fill shoes boxes with goodies for kids that are then shipped around the world and given to children for which this is often their first ever Christmas gift.

Locally, Shepherd of the Hills seeks to partner with various organizations that are doing great work in our community.  We have an active food ministry and homeless ministry that creates care packages that are distributed by the people of Shepherd of the Hills to those who are homeless and in need of a little help.  Each year we sponsor Community Connections Day events in which over 100 people go out into the local community to serve and love those whom God has placed around us.

In addition to these projects, it is our sincere belief that each and every person who is a follower of Jesus is called to do ministry wherever they are, in whatever they are doing.  Mission happens in our homes, in our jobs, in our schools, and wherever we may go.

  • care ministries

At Shepherd of the Hills, we recognize there are times when we all need a little extra help and care.

If you are looking for pastoral marriage counseling, please contact Pastor Kevin or the church office.

If you are senior who is having a hard time getting out of the house, Pastor Tom would love to come and bring worship to you.  To set up a visit, please contact the church office.

If you are in the hospital, please let the church office know so that we can stop by and pray with you and your Family.

If you have experienced the loss of a loved one, please contact us in the office so that we can help you with funeral arrangements and begin to deal with the grief process.

If you are going through a rough patch, we have a special ministry called Stephen Ministry that is designed to walk, encourage and pray with people who just need a friend.  Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry grounded in Jesus' command to love one another. Those who are hurting receive love and support through one-to-one caring relationships with trained volunteer Stephen Ministers. For more information email us or check out this document that further explains the Stephen Ministry.  You may also contact the church office.

Regardless of where you are or what is going, know that you are not alone.  God loves you.  God is with you.  We want to be there to help and care for you however we can.  Don’t be scared to reach out and ask for support.

  • health minitries

There are times in life when our bodies doesn’t work the way that we want them to.  There are times when doctors are telling us things that we just flat don’t understand.  If you, a friend, or a family member are going through something that you could just use a little wisdom or reassurance on when it comes to you health, we invite you to contact our Parish Nurse Ron Herman at parishnurse@soth.org.
